Vendor readies update of apps to help prevent attacks on networks.
Intrusion-detection and -prevention software maker Internet Security Systems Inc. is getting ready to ship an updated version of its RealSecure SiteProtector and Fusion applications, which, company officials say, will help users prevent attacks and more accurately focus on mitigating real threats to their networks, servers, and desktops.
ISS president and CEO Tom Noonan touted the company's integration of its intrusion-detection, vulnerability-assessment, and firewall apps into a single platform. The goal, he says, is to better automate security with centralized security-policy administration, reporting, and attack analysis to better manage potential security threats and weaknesses.
The company is taking steps to fulfill its promise of developing automated security response to unknown threats by tightly integrating vulnerability software and intrusion-detection and -prevention apps, including third-party security apps.
RealSecure SiteProtector 2.0 will be available this month. The vendor's RealSecure Fusion 2.0, which will be available in coming months, automatically identifies security threats and can spot which attacks truly threaten a company's security.
