PivX Solutions announced Wednesday the release of Qwik-Fix Pro Home Edition, a consumer version of its enterprise software product.

Qwik-Fix Pro Home Edition is designed to protect consumers or small office users from worms and viruses before vendor security patches become available. Qwik-Fix Pro protects Windows-based PCs by blocking the underlying vulnerabilities exploited by worms and viruses. The product also provides additional protection for users who do not have XP SP2 and/or will no longer receive security fixes from Microsoft.

PivX's researchers have identified the root cause of most Internet Explorer vulnerabilities as insecure zone privileges and improper MIME type detection. Qwik-Fix Pro protects users against IE command execution vulnerabilities, including the recent IFRAME and Download.ject exploits.

The product works with Windows 95 or higher and offers the same level of protection as Qwik-Fix Pro Enterprise. The product is priced at $49.95 for a one-year subscription, with special pricing of $34.95 through December 31, 2004.
