MailHurdle technology convinced the security company that Mirapoint's products would do the best job at securing its in-house e-mail.
Mirapoint will announce on Monday that RSA Security has deployed Mirapoint RazorGate 450 e-mail security appliances to protect its more than 1,200 in-house Exchange users.
Mirapoint's RazorGate appliance uses the company's patented MailHurdle technology to block spam. The appliance also includes content filters that can enforce policy, SMTP connection management tools, and logging and reporting of malware and compliance incidents.
Prior to acquiring RazorGate appliances the big security company used an anti-virus software product running on a general-purpose server platform located at RSA's network gateway. When the company decided to add ant-spam and SMTP security tools, they looked for a solution that would not interfere with their existing Exchange architecture.
"The RazorGate 450 offered the spectrum of e-mail security capabilities that we needed," said RSA's tech services manager Torsten Guttenberger, "and included end-user controls for personalized spam and email management that were attractive." Guttenberger added that he felt that MailHurdle and Mirapoint's long-term messaging experience made the company a good fit for RSA.
