Analytics tool maker ProClarity said the latest version of its chief platform will support Microsoft's anticipated -- but repeatedly delayed -- SQL Server 2005 database.

Version 6 of ProClarity Analytics was developed in line with the SQL Server 2005 Community Technology Previews in such a way that it will be able to take advantage of new business intelligence functionality in Microsoft's platform.

The release of SQL Server 2005, which is billed as a data management and analysis tool, has been put off more than once. Microsoft said last month that it hopes to ship the product at the end of 2005.

ProClarity already supports older versions of the SQL Server product family. Version 6 of its tool and SQL Server 2005 will provide a "comprehensive and cost-effective reporting and analysis solution" when used together, ProClarity said.

Microsoft is busying itself with advances on the business intelligence front. The company is reportedly working on a real-time reporting server that will let users create executive dashboards that tap data from enterprise applications such as Siebel or SAP.
