Business intelligence software maker Business Objects made an addition to its analytics suite that's designed to help companies comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act by increasing financial data transparency.

Sarbanes-Oxley Analytic Solution lets companies perform "root cause" analysis and helps them identify process irregularities. Financial managers using the application can trace data in reports to its origins, thereby resolving discrepancies in financial statements, for example.

Business Objects is now shipping the new compliance technology. A spokesperson for the company put its price at $150,000, including "all the requisite functionality needed to run the solution."
