DataPower, creator and leading provider of intelligent XML-Aware Network (XAN) infrastructure, announced in mid-November the addition of a number of new major customers. These firms and organizations use DataPower’s high-end network devices for comprehensive Web services security, XML acceleration and rapid enablement of service-oriented architectures (SOA).

Customers that have recently selected DataPower include international financial services institutions such as CIBC and JPMorgan Chase Bank, global pharmaceutical leaders including Pfizer, top-tier travel and hospitality services including Cendant, prominent insurance and annuity businesses that include The Hartford, defense and government agencies, and leading telecommunications companies including Bell Canada.

The announcement also cited numerous other sales across many industries, significant follow-on business with existing customers, success of the highly embeddable XG4 XML Chip subsystem, and continued growth for its PowerLine channel program, indicating that DataPower continues to expand its presence in the Web services security market.

"DataPower is consistently chosen over competitors for its unmatched level of security, its unbeatable performance, and range of flexibility for XML and Web services security, and we have continued to see significant and steady growth for our XML Web services security gateway since we first introduced it almost two years ago," said Jim Ricotta, president and CEO at DataPower. "With each new customer, we not only experience the advancement of our leadership in the market, but validation of our mature technology and vision for dealing with the increased sophistication of our customers’ Web service deployments. With today's news, DataPower — the first to pioneer the XML-aware networking space — further demonstrates its ability to lead the industry on all accounts: customers, innovation, strategic partnerships and vision."

"Real customer momentum drives market demand for real Web services applications for which enterprises are turning to solutions that provide real Web services security," said Earl L. Perkins, Vice President, Security & Risk Strategies Technology Research Services at META Group, Inc. "As more Web services are deployed, particularly across network boundaries, customers are going to be drawn to those providers of standards-based, performance-optimized solutions that are XML-aware and can be implemented, configured and maintained quickly and easily."

Along with its accelerating growth with deployed Web services security customers, DataPower's Q3 results announcement highlighted DataPower's expansion of its Integration for Management ecosystem and its leadership position as the partner of choice for top-tier solution providers with additional integration that includes RSA ClearTrust, RSA Federated Identity Management, RSA KEON, and RSA SecureID; Computer Associates eTrust; IBM's Tivoli; Sun Microsystems' Sun Access Manager; and Cyclone Commerce's Cyclone Interchange Advanced Server.
