Hummingbird Ltd. has launched an enhanced version of its connectivity software integration suite, Hummingbird Connectivity 10, which lets enterprises connect to any kind of legacy system across heterogeneous platforms.
Designed to greatly simplify software management, the applications that comprise Connectivity 10 support any Microsoft 32-bit and 64-bit operating system. Exceed 10 provides collaborative capabilities to any X Window application. NFS Maestro improves cross-network interoperability of heterogeneous storage environments. It is the only NFS solution for the PC that supports the new NFSv4 standard.
Hummingbird Connectivity's HostExplorer component provides seamless network integration of mainframe, AS/400 and Unix applications, automatically converting Mainframe macros and supporting most common terminal emulations.
According to Hummingbird president Barry Litwin, the new suite enables greatly simplified access to applications in a heterogeneous IT environment without necessitating costly IT integration efforts. "Hummingbird Connectivity 10 delivers unparalleled product functionality. It is the only product on the market that supports all the major network connectivity requirements," Litwin said in a statement. "The unique, innovative features in this latest release help our customers realize significant savings on their overall IT budgets and a substantive return on investment."
The Connectivity suite's security component provides secure terminal and file-transfer functionality. The new SecureTerm module also supports a wide range of security standards, including Axalto and ActivCard smartcard solutions. "Connectivity SecureTerm is the most feature-rich, cost effective secure terminal software on the market today, offering complete support for common security protocols, including Secure Shell 2, SSL and Kerberos," Hummingbird Connectivity senior product manager Xavier Chaillot said in a statement. "With this new release, we further strengthen our existing security products and extend our commitment to the connectivity market."
