Hyperion signed a partnership with MetaMatrix, a maker of metadata management and enterprise information integration (EII) applications, to sell their combined technologies to customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Hyperion, which makes performance management technology, said the two firms plan to start by supporting joint prospects and customers. Both vendors have several clients in the financial services industry. Hyperion and MetaMatrix hope to eventually expand the agreement beyond the United Kingdom and Ireland.

MetaMatrix makes technology that provides access to data that can then be analyzed by Hyperion business intelligence tools. EII is a relatively new IT term previously known as federated data access. Rather than being confined to structured data sources, such as relational database management systems, EII platforms can federate access to nonstructured data, including XML files, Web services, enterprise applications and spreadsheets.

"Our partnership with enable companies to prioritize, plan, align and execute their business performance management initiatives," MetaMatrix VP of sales Hamish Morjaria said in a prepared statement.

MetaMatrix has similar agreement with BI vendor Business Objects.
