The update, sold as part of Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3, features a wizard that allows the building of dashboards for tracking business performance management efforts.
Hyperion Solutions has added dashboard-building functionality to the newest version of its Performance Suite software, as the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based firm continues to leverage new capabilities from Brio, the business intelligence software firm it acquired last year.
The update, sold as part of Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3, features a seven- or eight-stage wizard that allows administrators or end users to build reporting dashboards for tracking their business performance management (BPM) efforts. Hyperion wanted a code-free business intelligence environment that could support its BPM offerings.
About 90 percent of Performance Suite's new dashboard functionality comes directly from Brio-built technology, said Hyperion senior product marketing manager Colin Dover. Hyperion hopes to have fully integrated the formerly separate companies' technologies by this time next year. Hyperion bought Brio for about $142 million in cash and stock in July 2003.
Other new elements of Performance Suite 8.3 include connectivity to SAP R3 and BW data sources, as well as support for Asian language formats. The software became available at the end of November.
The software's dashboard-creation capabilities are included in its developer and administrative licenses. Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3 is available by CPU or with named-user licensing, starting at about $125,000.
