Procedo has announced a new version of its software to move archived data from one platform to another, including premises to the cloud.Procedo's Archive Migration Manager (PAMM) 3.0 helps enterprises move archived files and e-mail from one storage platform to another, including between competing vendors' products.
It supports a long list of popular storage and application providers, including Symantec Enterprise Vault, NetApp, EMC EmailXtender and Centera, Dell, Hitachi Content Archive Platform, Autonomy/Zantaz EAS, Mimosa Nearpoint, CommVault, HP's Integrated Archive Platform, and NTFS file systems.
New to 3.0 is the ability to migrate data from the customer premises up to the cloud. The company has struck deals with LiveOffice and Dell MessageOne, which provide SaaS-based e-mail and file archiving. Customers can use PAMM to move their archives up to these cloud providers' systems.
The migration software includes modules that connect to the source and destination archives, and a core management component. As objects are migrated, the software takes a hash value of each object before it moves it, and then takes another hash value at the destination archive. If the values don't match, it retries the migration.
These hash values are stored to serve as a chain of custody record.
PAMM 3.0 ships on Feb. 16. Pricing starts at $5,000 per terabyte of migrated data. Procedo does some direct sales, but customers can also inquire with Procedo's OEM partners, including Symantec and NetApp, which bundle PAMM into a migration service offering.
