This week at its Connect 2004 user conference, PeopleSoft announced that it has extended its worldwide OEM and reseller agreement with strategic reporting and business intelligence leader Business Objects. PeopleSoft will embed and resell BO's Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise tools within the PeopleSoft Tools platform for future releases of the PeopleSoft Enterprise and EnterpriseOne applications.

In addition, PeopleSoft announced that Business Objects is now its preferred business intelligence partner, with expanded co-marketing and joint selling activities likely down the road.

With the integration of Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprises, future releases of Enterprise and EnterpriseOne will give PeopleSoft customers full-featured reporting, including drill-down functionality, alerting, charting, web-based report creation, and modification; enhanced security features including single-point access to privileged business data; and the ability to easily format active data into Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word documents.

PeopleSoft says it expects the new releases to begin rolling out in Q4 of this year.
