Sweden-based business intelligence vendor QlikTech named Rick Pitts to the position of president and CEO of its North American operations, the company announced Tuesday.

Pitts joins QlikTech from SAP America, where he was Vice President of SMB Channel Sales for the enterprise application maker's All-In-One line of small business products. Pitts worked for another German software company before joining SAP, serving as president and CEO of document management application maker IXOS Software.

In a statement, Pitts said he was attracted by QlikTech's "unique technology and approach to business intelligence, its world-class investors in Accel Partners and JVP Ventures, and its strong and growing installed base" of 1,500 customers.

QlikTech markets its reporting and analysis tools on the strength of their quick deployment time and easy-to-use interface. The company's U.S. headquarters is in Raleigh, N.C.
