Teradata and SeeCommerce struck a partnership to integrate their technologies for retail industry customers trying to avoid product "out-of-stocks" -- the problem of running out of inventory short of demand.

SeeCommerce makes software called SeeChain that monitors supply chain metrics such as order changes, inventory levels, sales forecast accuracy and delivery performance. Under terms of the deal, the software will be integrated with Teradata's data warehouse technology, which retailers use to store transaction, product and store-level data.

The combined application will give retailers early notification of supply chain performance issues, along with causal information on problems.

SeeCommerce and Teradata, a unit of NCR Corp., developed the partnership out of work they're performing for mutual retail clients. Pricing information for the integrated technology was not immediately available.
