Veritas Software Corporation has been positioned in the "leaders" quadrant in Gartner's latest J2EE Application Server Management, 2005 Magic Quadrant report. According to Gartner, those companies designated as "leaders" are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction, and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

Company evaluations in the Magic Quadrant are determined by each company's completeness of vision and ability to execute, and how important each factor is in the marketplace. Companies positioned in the Leaders Quadrant possess a large, satisfied installed base and have a high degree of visibility within the market. They offer highly scalable, robust, and increasingly intelligent applications and they have the strategic vision to address evolving enterprise requirements in the form of J2EE application life cycle management.

Veritas has maintained its position in the market with its application performance management software, Veritas i3 for J2EE. Recent enhancements released with the 7.0 version of VERITAS i3 software in October 2004 include the ability to automatically detect performance problems and provide expert advice on how to correct them, and a feature ensuring all the application "hot spots" are identified and instrumented automatically without costly application server restarts.

"As J2EE technologies anchor enterprise web-based applications, customers are looking for a way to quickly isolate then fix performance bottlenecks," said Robert Maness, Vice President, Application Service Management, Veritas Software. "Veritas i3 for J2EE offers innovative end-to-end capabilities that provide customers with a comprehensive application performance management solution for server-side Java applications."

"As Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition(J2EE)-based application servers proliferate, management issues associated with the platform are becoming more visible," said Cameron Haight, Research Vice President at Gartner Inc., in his report. "Java is becoming one of the most widely used technologies for supporting mission-critical applications. As its influence has spread, many companies have begun evaluating Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition-based application server management products."
