The editors of information Government are putting together our list of the top CIOs in federal, state and local government, and we'd like to invite our readers to be a part of the process. The information Government CIO 50 will be a who's who of IT leaders across government. We are looking for CIOs and other senior IT execs who have shown a commitment to innovation, good government and effective leadership. Please weigh in and let us know who you think belongs on our list, whether it be the CIO of a major federal agency or of a small town in Wisconsin.

This is the second time we've tackled this project. Our first list (published in 2009) included CIOs from across federal government, as well as many state and city CIOs. But change is constant in government IT, and you can expect to see many new faces in our 2011 profiles, including names suggested by our readers.

We're looking for CIOs and IT leaders who are delivering in the areas of cloud computing, open government, project management and accountability, efficient spending, data center consolidation and virtualization, cybersecurity, and innovative approaches to government operations and services.

So send us your thoughts, in the comment section below or in an e-mail to me at [email protected], and look for information Government's CIO 50 in March.
