The unified communications space is very hot right now, and Digium, with its open source approach, is getting plenty of notice. We caught up with them at VoiceCon a couple of weeks ago.One of the big challenges any open source solution has is its stigma in the enterprise (a stigma that is quickly disappearing). Couple that with a wall of established competitors, and Digium has an uphill battle, but in the small- and medium-sized business arena, it's an excellent story. Not to mention, according to Digium, 24 straight quarters of profitability and a quickly evolving unified communications story thanks to the recent acquisition of Switchvox.
