How much more are you willing to pay for Internet service? If you're Robert Iger, the CEO of Walt Disney, apparently you're willing to pay billions. Iger appeared at TelecomNext yesterday in Las Vegas and said he didn't see a need for any net-neutrality legislation that would keep the big telecoms and cable companies from charging his company whatever they want to to deliver Disney's content to customers."We appreciate the pledges made" by the telecom and cable companies not to block or degrade services, applications or content, Iger said at the end of his keynote presentation. "We do not support any [Network Neutrality] legislation at this time."

What's this guy smoking? I want some. Pledges made to content companies like Disney, Google, Yahoo, News Corp., and others by AT&T, Verizon, Time-Warner, Comcast and others (and as of this week, add QWEST) are like promises made by foxes to chickens not to eat them.

There have been a lot of questions about Iger since he inherited his job from the departing Michael Eisner. I think this just about answers them: The Disney CEO job will be up for grabs within nine months. This guy just doesn't get it.
