Eye-Fi has released a new wireless memory card that is aimed at professional photographers.

The company is known for its SDHC memory cards that have built-in Wi-Fi, which enables users to upload photos and videos to online sharing sites like YouTube and Flickr without having to connect the card to a computer. The latest product, called the Eye-Fi Pro, adds a host of new features, including support for more photo file types like RAW.

Another new feature of the Eye-Fi Pro is the ability to create peer-to-peer connections between a camera and a computer. This ad hoc connection means a user doesn't need a router or an Internet connection to transfer files to a computer. Users can upload to sharing sites with personal Wi-Fi networks, or they can get free access to more than 10,000 Wayport hotspots.

"People are engaged in photography at a deeper level than ever before," Jef Holove, CEO of Eye-Fi, said in a statement. "They have moved from being casual photographers to passionate enthusiasts, shooting in RAW for more extensive editing, adding geotags for a richer experience, or using an online gallery to share their work."

Like the original Eye-Fi products, the Pro version enables the user to geotag photos while uploading, and this can be done automatically with certain hotspots. Users will also be able to choose which photos and videos are uploaded with the "Selective Transfer" feature, and this is available to all Eye-Fi card users.

The Eye-Fi Pro is available now for about $150, and it comes with 4 GB of storage.
