HP unveiled a slew of new printer, scanner and MFP products for SMBs at the HP Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) Innovation Summit in New York City.

According to HP, "The new printing products…and all future networked, office-class HP LaserJet printers are based on HP FutureSmart Firmware. The new products, services and solutions are designed to help HP Managed Print Services customers cut costs, improve productivity, mitigate risk and drive business results."

For small and midsize businesses, HP announced a new portfolio of web-connected printers that will include HP ePrint for printing from Internet-enabled mobile devices, and print app support.

New devices include the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color MFP (wired and wireless), the first HP LaserJet printer that prints from the web and mobile devices (available now, MSRP $449); HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One series, for professional-quality color prints, marketing materials or other business documents (available now, MSRP starting at $299); HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format e-All-in-One wide-format inkjet (available now, MSRP starting at $299); and the wired and unwired HP CM1415 LaserJet printer (available now, MSRP $449) supporting printing from the web and mobile devices.

Other new devices announced include the HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw Color Printer (MSRP $229), which, says HP, is the world’s smallest color laser printer, and the HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer (MSRP $299), both expected to be available in November; the HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP (MSRP $299), available now, and the HP Scanjet Pro 3000 Sheet-feed Scanner (MSRP $449), expected to be available in November.

Additionally, HP is working with Intuit's Partner Platform to deliver an app that will allow small businesses to easily scan, store and manage financial materials via Intuit’s QuickBooks.

To let SMBs and enterprises get more from existing imaging and printing hardware, and simplify fleet management, HP introduced HP FutureSmart Firmware and the latest version of the HP Open Extensibility Platform (OXP). According to HP, these two technologies will extend some capabilities to OXP-enabled devices dating back to 2005.

Together, these products allow HP and solution partners to develop advanced applications for the enabled devices, "making HP multifunction printers a document workflow kiosk for multiple business processes that enhance productivity."

HP also announced a number of printers, MFPs and scanners in its Enterprise families, with MSRPs ranging from $1,399 to $5,549, as well as additional horizontal and vertical solutions for document management and workflow, such as the HP Insurance Policy Accelerator Solution HP Dynamic Marketing, the HP and TROY Secure Document Printing Solution.

HP also announced new services including:

-- Enhancing HP ePrint Enterprise for BlackBerry smartphones "with pull-printing integration

-- Enhanced HP Telecommuter bundles help ensure high productivity for enterprise telecommuters with new ePrint enabled devices and portable printers

-- The HP Security Action Plan, "providing a comprehensive roadmap to help enterprise customers identify and address common security risks across their imaging and printing environments for enhanced data protection and improved compliance," according to HP.

For consumers and other home users (and, presumably, SOHO users), HP introduced a new category of web-oriented, cloud-enabled printers, spanning the HP Photosmart, Officejet, LaserJet and DesignJet lines, and starting at $99 for consumer models and $149 for office models. And for mobile users, HP is simplifying printing from mobile devices, through HP ePrint on new HP Photosmart devices, and also supporting direct printing from Apple iPad, iPod touch and iPhone devices with iOS 4.2.
