It's not the organized people who need to keep task lists -- it's those of us who are so disorganized that we need some sort of written reminder to keep us on track (and to keep our bosses happy). As a past Outlook user, my inclination is to pair my task list with my calendar. As a current user of Google Calendar, I've been a bit peeved because, with all its advantages, it doesn't have a To Do feature. I'm a lot happier now -- because I found a site with the absurd name of Remember The Milk.At first glance, Remember The Milk (which is currently in beta) is yet another simple online task list, albeit a nicely organized one. I glanced at it, and was going to pass on by -- until I saw that you could add your task list to Google Calendar. Remember The Milk adds a checkmark icon to the upper left corner of each day; you click on the icon, and you get a pop-up list of your daily tasks, and the option to add more. In other words, your task list becomes an integrated part of your calendar.
Remember The Milk has other neat features -- for example, you can send yourself a task reminder via e-mail, IM, or SMS. I look forward to seeing what its creators can come up with by the time it moves out of beta. For now, at least, Remember The Milk has become an important part of my Google Calendar.
By the way, if you want an online calendar with an integrated task list, and you're not wed to Google, you might want to check out 30 Boxes, an interesting and constantly developing online calendar app.
