For people who can still afford wealth-flaunting luxury despite the global economic crisis, Super Talent Technology is offering a limited-edition solid-gold USB drive.
Besides style for the rich, the 18-karat Pico-C offers 8 GB of storage and boasts data-transfer speeds of up to 30 MB per second, the company said. The device is also water resistant and includes an 18-karat gold key chain, encryption software, and a serialized certificate of authenticity.
"We fused advanced technology with precious metals into a precision crafted device with no equal," Jin Kim, Super Talent design engineer, said in a statement.

Super Talent markets the Pico-C as a collector's item that makes an "eloquent corporate gift." But given the loss of value many companies have suffered in recent stock market dives, it's unlikely investors would look kindly at such extravagance. Super Talent sells the Pico-C to resellers for $599.
Super Talent sells more than luxury items. The company in March introduced a 256 GB solid-state drive that the company claims is 40% thinner than other similar capacity SSDs for notebooks and other mobile devices.
The 2.5-inch drive, with the model number FSD56GC25H, is 12.5 millimeters thick, or slightly less than a half-inch. The product has an access time of 0.1 milliseconds, and maximum read and write speeds of 65 MB per second and 50 MB per second, respectively.
