When you select the service you need along with the time and day, eMove presents you with a list of companies offering the service that are available when you need them along with their price and rating. You only pay the mover at the end of the job when you are satisfied. Moving this way saved me about 40% over using a traditional moving company and I got to pick the specific time and day that worked best for me.

CityMove is a moving marketplace similar to eMove except the site appears more up-to-date. CityMove relaunched their website earlier this year. While eMove offers the ability to search for a moving company, CityMove allows you to post a "job" and have movers bid on your specific requirements. The job postings provide insight into the bids for similar moving jobs and it provides a way to itemize what you plan to move.

Both eMove and CityMove provide reviews for each listed moving company. eMove only lists reviews from actual customers while CityMove lists both reviews from CityMove customers (verified reviews) and public reviews which means anyone can post a review.

Vavoca is the newest marketplace for labor. Vavoca is currently serving the San Francisco market but they have plans to expand nationwide. Vavoca offers a labor search and the ability to post jobs. While not as feature-rich as CityMove and eMove, Vavoca could work well when you need a specific type of person for a specific job. They are also working on offering an image service as part of the job posting process. This can help a mover provide an accurate quote by not just listing the items in text but also displaying photos of the items to be moved.

No matter what online service you use to help with your move, always make sure that you check the reviews and reliability for all movers you are interested in. I've found many movers have fake reviews making them look much better than they actually are.
