Lexmark X8350

Probably more useful to most of us, but still not a wallet buster at the low end of its street pricing ($92), is Lexmark's X8350. It boasts a 25/19 ppm (black/color) in draft mode with the typical time available for a dinner reservation if you switch to “normal.” Print resolution will run as high as 1200 x 1200 (black) or 4800 x 1200 (color) with fax, scan, and copy features included. The X8350 is memory card friendly, has a PictBridge port, and a 2.36-inch LCD to assist in photo printing.

P350
According to Lexmark, its P350 photo printer offers lab-quality 4 x 6-inch prints as fast as 75 seconds. It’s nice if you have a computer handy but not required. With memory card slots, a PictBridge connecter, and a 2.6-inch LCD to preview your images (as well as a one-touch red-eye and color fix), you can pick the P350 up by its handle and carry it with you -- as long as you’ve shelled out at least the $100 bottom-end street price.

Ricoh

Ricoh Aficio GX3050N
It’s ugly; may no mistake about that. But Ricoh’s Aficio GX3050N uses GelSprinter Technology! If you’re also in the dark about that, it means this is a piezo inkjet system using a fast-drying viscous gel ink. That cleared it up, right? Think of it this way: 29 ppm in both black and color, non-smudge ink that won’t curl your paper when it’s wet, four cartridges, no scanning or faxing, holds 250 sheets of paper (plus a 150-sheet multi-bypass tray), has a 400-MHz processor, 64 Mbytes of memory, USB and network connectivity. All that and the GX3050N could be yours for just $159.
