AMD has finally revealed when its long-talked-about Puma platform will see the light of day.More than 100 Puma laptops, priced between $699 and $2,500, will hit the market by the end of June, according to the chip maker. Puma is AMD's answer to Intel's Centrino; the platform comprises a dual-core processor known as Griffin that's designed specifically for mobile applications but built using the current Turion core, and the M780 chipset (a.k.a. RS780M), which will incorporate a DirectX 10 GPU.

The first generation of Griffin is more about power efficiency than performance, thereby offering better battery life, according to AMD. The M780 processor will feature 1 MB of L2 Cache and support DDR2 667-MHz and 800-MHz memory. The Register, Laptop Logic
