Apple has pushed back the release of its first rack-mounted storage server until early next year, according to a notice posted on the company's Web site.
Apple's Xserve RAID, which the company had said would be available before the end of the year, will not be released until early 2003, the posting says.
The Xserve RAID, introduced when Apple shipped the Xserve 1U server in July, is a 3U rack-mounted storage unit housing 14 hard drives with a maximum capacity of 1.68 terabytes. It includes a pair of 2-Gbps Fibre Channel connects for fast links to servers.
