Summertime and the livin' is 3G for Apple Computer's iPhone, according to a research note issued by a Bank of America analyst.BofA's Scott Craig expects an initial 3 million 3G iPhones to go into production in the May/June time frame -- right around when Apple plans to launch an upgrade to its iPhone software and when its World Wide Developer Conference takes place. Apple's current iPhone model operates on AT&T's 2.5G network. Craig, who had previously estimated 8 million iPhone units would ship for the whole of 2008, now says that number is "conservative" unless there's a change in plans.

No comment from Apple thus far.ChannelWeb, Reuters
