Uncertainty about the economy is giving some tech professionals jitters about their jobs and wallets. Are the fears warranted or not?A new survey released today by staffing and outsourcing firm Hudson says that workers last month in all sectors -- including IT and telecom -- were scared about the economy, worried about their personal finances, and concerned about layoffs.

The volatility of the stock market, slumped real estate market, and rising oil prices, among other economic downers, seem to be the root of the worry.

But officials who are closer to the hiring scene, including executives at staffing firms, say the fear doesn't match the reality of what's happening in the workplace, especially for techies. They say employers are still going ahead with IT hiring plans.
