AT&T has already delivered U-verse Mobile to the iPhone, BlackBerry Torch and its Windows Phone 7 devices. On Monday, AT&T added support for its Android phones and the BlackBerry Curve 3G to the list of U-verse Mobile TV-compatible handsets.

U-verse Mobile for Android will initially support the Samsung Captivate, HTC Aria, Motorola Bravo and Motorola Flipside (both Motorola's will be available in the coming week). AT&T didn't say if the Samsung Galaxy Tab would be added to that list when it goes on sale later this year. The application is a free download from the Android Market.

U-verse Mobile lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage their DVR recordings, and for subscribers with qualifying TV plans, download TV shows over a Wi-Fi connection for consumption on their handset.

In order to watch content on their phone, U-verse subscribers need to have a U300 package or higher. Those that do will be able to browse the library of downloadable shows and then download them to the handset. Shows can be watched immediately or saved for later.

It's a shame that AT&T won't allow downloads over its 3G network, but it points out that all U-verse customers have a free Wi-Fi network installed in their home when U-verse is installed. It also says that any Wi-Fi network, and not just users' home Wi-Fi networks -- can be used for the download.

"We continue to innovate and integrate across devices, and we're proud to bring the popular U-verse Mobile app to Android users," said Jeff Weber, vice president of video services, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets in a prepared statement. "We're already ahead of our competitors in delivering TV content across screens, and we'll keep focusing on bringing content to customers in new ways."

In addition to the Android version of U-verse Mobile, AT&T is also making a version of the application available to the BlackBerry Curve 3G. It has the same feature set.
