BlackBerry Users Loyal, But Not CompletelyBlackBerry Users Loyal, But Not Completely
A new study found that while BlackBerry users are loyal as a group, they're also open to switching if the right combination of form factor and functionality is offered.
Overall, BlackBerry users are very loyal but would still consider switching if another vendor provided the right combination of features, according to a study released Tuesday by iGillottResearch.
Specifically, the study, based on a survey of 803 BlackBerry users in North America, found that most would buy another BlackBerry device in the future. However, the survey also found those users would consider different devices that met their needs, such as smartphones with different keyboard, form factor and operating systems.
"While existing BlackBerry users are happy with their devices, the study is good news for RIM's competitors since the opportunity for a successful alternative smartphone is clearly identified," Iain Gillott, president of iGillottResearch, said in a statement.
The study did not cover the potential impact of Research In Motion's patent dispute with NTP as a factor in user loyalty.
