For twentysomethings, blogging is a way of Internet life. But it's not quite as familiar to more seasoned, shall we say, Web users. That could change in the wake of EarthLink Inc.'s decision to sell blogging tools to its 5 million consumer and small-business customers.

EarthLink plans to sell Trellix Corp. site-creation software and newly developed weblogging (aka blogging) tools. Companies can use the tools to create blog pages that include news, facts, lots of opinion, and links to related resources.

EarthLink hasn't disclosed pricing, but Trellix marketing director Matthew Malloy says customers are willing to pay up to $29.95 a month for the tools. Trellix, whose products are aimed at the 20 million small businesses in the United States, is negotiating similar deals with other ISPs, but Malloy says EarthLink is the largest one to date to say it will sell the tools.
