Bluenog, released Bluenog ICE 4.0 this week, intended to address multiple enterprise needs by bringing together portal, content management and business intelligence software in one integrated package. ICE 4.0, which stand for Integrated Collaborative Environment, brings together the latest versions of Bluenog CMS, Bluenog RichPortal, with their newly released Business Intelligence module.Bluenog has been around for a few years, but has maintained a fairly low profile as a software and services provider. They received $4 million in growth financing from NewSpring Ventures at the beginning of this year, so it's fair to assume that the development and release of Bluenog ICE 4.0 was helped significantly by that cash influx.

As Bluenog's founders came primarily from BEA (now part of Oracle), it's a logical match that Bluenog cut their teeth as a software and services provider with a specialization in BEA/Oracle projects. That makes the release of Bluenog ICE 4.0 particularly interesting, as they are now positioned to provide expertise in integrating software from other vendors, as well as offering their own software solutions.

As mentioned above, Bluenog ICE 4.0 consists of three core modules:

-Bluenog CMS, a content management system with solid content creation and management and publication functionality. -Bluenog RichPortal, a portal development environment that supports creating a highly customized interface for accessing reporting, content and other enterprise resources. -Bluenog BI, their new business intelligence tool that allows users to create a dashboard of reports with data culled from multiple sources from across a customer's enterprise.

Having these key sets of functionality in one integrated system should hold quite a bite of appeal for both end users as well as already stretched IT departments. Bluenog also seems to have fairly straightforward pricing and offers source code along with the software licence, making the tools even more extensible for teams with programming chops.

Overall, the suite looks pretty compelling, and while it might be too much solution for a small business, it's probably worth a look for organizations with a broad set of portal, content and business intelligence needs.
