SBC said Tuesday that its hotspots are now available in more than 600 Barnes & Noble bookstores in the U.S.

The bookstore chain was left without a hotspot provider earlier this year when the provider it had selected, Cometa, dropped out of the hotspot business. SBC, which is working to keep up with rivals such as T-Mobile as a hotspot provider, stepped into the breach. T-Mobile provides hotspots for Barnes & Noble's competitor, Borders.

The hotspots will be part of SBC's FreedomLink network of hotspots. Two hours of access will be available to bookstore customers for $3.95, the companies said in a statement. Users also can subscribe to access SBC's 5000 hotspots for $19.95 a month.
