British broadband provider says it's beat its 2002 goal for broadband connections by double.

In 2002, when British Telecommunications was one of more than 200 broadband providers in the United Kingdom, the company set a target for 5 million connections by 2006. The company announced that it will break the 10 million barrier this week. BT said its market share remains steady at about 24%.

The company plans to roll out an improved network that will make speeds up to 24 Mb/s increasingly available, beginning next year.
