Nintendo confirmed Thursday that it will launch its portable Nintendo DS Lite game playing device in the Americas starting on June 11.
The "Lite" version is a slimmed down version of the wireless Nintendo DS, which Nintendo launched in 2004. The company said in a statement that the Lite version, which it has been selling in Japan since last spring, is about two-thirds the size of the regular DS, which is 5.85 inches wide by 3.33 inches long and just over an inch tall. Nintendo said the Lite model is also about 20 percent lighter.
Nintendo said the Nintendo DS Lite will be priced at $129.99.
