The QSC1100 will double talk time while doubling network capacity, the vendor says.
Qualcomm introduced Monday a single-chip solution for handsets that it says will drastically lower handset costs. The QSC1100 will double talk time while enabling a doubling of network capacity, the San Diego OEM said.
Baseband modem, RF transceiver, power management and system memory are integrated in the single chip, Qualcomm said. Included in the device, which utilizes 65nm process technology, are voice/SMS and support for downloadable polyphonic ringtones. Frequencies supported include 450MHz, 800MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz.
The QSC1100 solution will be effective in addressing the dramatic subscriber growth that is expected to take place in the world's emerging markets, Qualcomm said in a press release.
Qualcomm said it expects the QSC1100 will sample by the second half of 2007.
