Microsoft and the New York Times unveiled an advanced Windows Vista application Friday that enhances the online and offline reading of the newspaper.
Called the Times Reader, the application displays the newspaper's text in columns and format that readers can customize according to font size.
The companies said Microsoft will publish a software development kit for companies interested in developing a similar solution.
The New York Times said the Times Reader provides the increased functionality of the Internet, including "continuous updates, multimedia and hyperlinks." The solution features a slide show of images appearing in the newspaper as well as a seven-day archive.
