Canon introduced it latest scanners Thursday, using the words "smaller, faster and easier to use" to describe the new devices, which are also designed to take up less desktop real estate.

Canon's newest products -- the CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner, and the CanoScan LiDE 60 Color Image Scanner " are due to hit store shelves in June and retail for $49.99 and $79.99 respectively.

For consumer use to scan family photographs and personal documents, the 1.3 "inch-high CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner features a one-cable power and USB connection; 3-button e-mail/scan/copy automation; Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE Level 3) technology to reduce scratches and dust. It also addresses grain, fading and improper backlighting. The scanner's lid, Canon's Advanced Z-Lid lifts one inch vertically to lay flat upon the item being scanned, accommodating books and magazines.

Resolution maximum is 1200 x 2400 color dpi, software enhanceable to 19,200 dpi. The scanner comes with ScanSoft, OmniPage, SE for OCR scanning, Arcsoft and PhotoStudio.

The CanoScan LiDE 60 Color Image scanner enhances the LiDE 25 model with 9 seconds scanner to computer image delivery, lightweight, slim design, metallic finish, and desktop stand. Its multi-scan mode scans several images simultaneously.
