Cast Iron has introduced an iA4000 series data-integration appliance that includes new data migration capabilities.

The new product is designed to speed up the process of integrating applications hosted on the Internet with on-premise software. In addition, Cast Iron is offering the data integration capabilities of the iA4000 over the Internet.

The iA4000 is an upgrade and replacement of the iA3000 appliance. New data migration capabilities include data conversion and profiling tools to accelerate software-as-a-service use, Cast Iron said. In addition, the upgrade includes an "extenstive" library of pre-configured integration templates for synchronizing one-to-one and many-to-many application endpoints, and a process flow designer to map out, execute, track and document business processes and data flows.

Cast Iron integration appliances are marketed as supporting application integration through configuration rather than coding. The boxes include pre-built connectors for SAP, Oracle, Salesforce.com, NetSuite, RightNow, Certain Software, Clarify and Remedy environments, as well as flat-files, Web services, and messaging systems.

In addition, Cast Iron connectors are available for major databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Informix and IBM's DB2. The boxes also include built-in transformation, business logic and management software, so IT staff with basic knowledge can integrate through a mapping interface.

Cast Iron appliances are available on a subscription basis at $2,500, $4,500 and $6,000 per month. Upgradeable appliances are also available, with prices starting at $125,000.

Cast Iron competitors include Boomi and SnapLogic.
