CBS is developing a soap opera specifically for broadcast to cell phones, the entertainment industry site Variety.com reported Wednesday.

The publication said that the network plans to run between five and seven original episodes of the unnamed soap opera a week. Each episode will be between three and five minutes long, according to the publication.

Most cellular operators either already are offering or plan to offer both streaming video and broadcast TV to their subscribers. Most content developed for such services is expected to be developed specifically for the small-screen format of phones.
