The second day of CES 2009 is quickly fading out and I haven't seen a single Android phone anywhere. The question everyone is asking is, where is the new mobile OS from Google?Right now, it can only be found on a few circuit board demos and the (many) HTC G1s that are being used by attendees. (Just an observation: Every single G1 I've seen here is black. I guess white and brown don't cut it.)

None of the handset makers announced or showed a new phone based on the Android operating system. I was expecting at least one to make an appearance. I didn't even see one under NDA in a private meeting.

The handset manufacturers I spoke to said that there should be more news come Mobile World Congress in February and CTIA in April. But none of them went so far as to say, "We'll be announcing an Android phone soon."

Disappointing.
