ContentWatch To Partner With MokiMobility On Mobile ManagementContentWatch To Partner With MokiMobility On Mobile Management
ContentWatch -- the folks known for Net Nanny -- and MokiMobility announced at CES 2012 that they will be partnering to deliver a mobile device management solution that draws on the strengths of both companies in the areas of content filtering and remote administration.
As various startups and security vendors race to fill the mobile device management (MDM) void created by the ever-increasing consumerization of IT, ContentWatch is partnering with MokiMobility to provide an MDM solution that combines the strengths of the two companies' security offerings.
In one corner is MokiMobility and an offering (MokiMobiity MDM) that includes "traditional" MDM features like remote wipe and application management for multiple mobile platforms like iOS and Android. In the other corner is ContentWatch with a rich history in the filtering of questionable Internet content (think Net Nanny -- one of ContentWatch's consumer offerings).
Whereas the traditional MDM features offered by MokiMobility are similar to those found in other MDM features, the combination of those features with content filtering capabilities could set the combined offering apart from other MDM providers. Through a partnership that will result in the white-labeling of MokiMobility MDM, the combined offering will be marketed to businesses by ContentWatch under the name ContentWatch MDM. This makes sense because, of the two companies, ContentWatch has stronger brand recognition in the security space (courtesy of it's existing business-targeted solution; ContentWatch Pro).
In the embedded video below, ContentWatch vice president of marketing Melissa Garland and MokiMobility CMO Brand Hintze discuss the partnership and then demonstrate the functionality that MokiMobility is contributing to the final product.
In that demo, Hintze shows how profiles can be installed onto iOS devices and then how those profiles enable the remote management of just about anything on the device from the applications that are installed on the device to the way the apps and data are secured through regular backups.
Today, the solution can manage iOS devices and Hintze claims that Android support is just around the corner. Given how recently the partnership was minted, customers will not see an integrated dashboard until later this year. In the meantime, buyers of ContentWatch MDM wiil essentially be getting a bundle of two products; MokiMobility MDM and ContentWatch Pro.
