CSC Gets Navy Contract Worth Up To $762 MillionCSC Gets Navy Contract Worth Up To $762 Million
A CSC unit will operate and support combat and operations-testing facilities for Navy submarines.
Computer Sciences Corp. said Tuesday that it has won a major contract to support a U.S. Navy research and testing unit. The deal could be worth more than $700 million to the IT-services vendor if the Navy exercises all of the contract's options.
The agreement calls for CSC to operate and support the Navy's Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center, which provides combat and operations-testing facilities for Navy submarines. Autec operates from bases in Florida and the Bahamas.
The deal contains a three-year base period, with an additional four, three-year option periods. CSC says the deal is worth $762 million if the Navy exercises all of the options. CSC will provide the services through its DynCorp Technical Services unit.
CSC acquired DynCorp, a privately held defense and IT contractor, in 2003. In December 2004, however, it sold off most of the company to a private equity firm. CSC, however, retained ownership of DynCorp's Technical Services unit.
