Dell Inc. has added PayPal as a payment option of U.S. consumers and small businesses.

For consumers, the announcement comes in advance of "Black Friday," which is the name given the day after Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, and marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

PayPal is a popular online payment service owned by Internet marketplace EBay Inc. The service has more than 86.6 million accounts. Users in the third quarter of this year spent more than $6.7 billion.

"Given the popularity of PayPal, we expect the new payment option to be a hit with current customers and serve as a tool to attract new shoppers to Dell.com," Tom West, director of home and small business marketing for Dell, said in a statement.

Dell, based Round Rock, Texas, offers a variety of payment options for its computers and consumer electronics, including credit cards, bank accounts or stored account balances.
