Dell continues to expand its services business, which has grown to account for nearly 10%—or about $5 billion—of the company's total revenue. On Thursday the company announced the opening of an enterprise command center in Penang, Malaysia, its fifth regional center.

The command centers provide business customers with service delivery, including crisis management, real-time tracking of customer requests, and access to technicians and service parts.

The Malaysian center is expected to serve Dell customers in Australia, New Zealand, and South Asia. Dell has similar centers at its headquarters in Round Rock, Texas, as well as in China, Ireland, and Japan.

Dell's fiscal 2005 fourth quarter, which ended Jan. 28, 2005, was the first to record $1 billion in services revenue. Since then services revenues have continued to grow. In its fiscal year 2006 third quarter ended Oct. 28, 2005, the company reported services revenue of $1.2 billion.
