Dell has added the E series to its Latitude line of laptops, one of which put the computer maker head to head with Apple's MacBook Air.That model, the E4200, weighs 2.2 pounds and sports a 12-inch widescreen display. The ultraportable is aimed at business travelers and comes with a wide range of wireless options, including Centrino 2 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Weighing just one pound, 1 ounce more is the E4300, with a 13.3-inch screen. The E4300 includes an optical drive, which its lighter counterpart does not.

New mainstream notebook models, aimed at high-performance users, are the 14.1-inch E6400 and 15.4-inch E6500. Features include dual-pointing devices, an RFID SmartCard sensor and multiple battery options. The E6400 and E6500 start at $1,139 and $1,169, respectively.

For more of the everyday user, Dell has rolled out two sub-$1,000 Latitude laptops: the 14.1-inch E5400 and 15.4-inch E5500. Dell has also updated its semi-rugged model with the $2,399 Latitude ATG D620, which includes a touch display, a removable shock-mounted hard drive and spill-resistant keyboard.PC Magazine, Forbes
