Digital printing provider Cenveo reported Wednesday that it will acquire Cadmus Communications for $430 million. The deal, the firms said, will create the third-largest graphic communications company in North America.
Cenveo, which has about 8,000 employees, recorded sales of about $1.6 billion in a recent 12-month reporting period, according to published reports. Cadmus had sales of about $451 million in the last 12 months. Headquartered in Richmond, Va., Cadmus has about 3,300 employees. Cenveo is located in Stamford, Ct.
"Over our 22-year history, Cadmus has grown to become the leading provider of publishing services to the scientific, technical, and medical market, the fifth largest periodical printer in North America and a leading global provider of specialty packaging services," said Bruce Thomas, president and chief executive officer of Cadmus, in a statement.
Cenveo has two major operations. The commercial printing operation has 27 manufacturing facilities while its envelops-forms-labels unit has 37 manufacturing facilities.
