Drupal cleaned up for the second year in a row in the 2008 Open Source CMS Awards, taking home both the Overall Open Source CMS Award and the Best Open Source PHP CMS Award. A total of 24 Open Source CMS MVPs also were announced earlier in the week, with one MVP being selected for each of a number of prominent systems. The full list of MVP award recipients is on the site.

Packt Publishing started with nominations back in July and the finalists were announced in September. Although Packt Publishing sponsors and hosts the awards, they're actually judged by content management industry experts.

I particularly enjoy these annual awards because they shine a spotlight on some lesser-known platforms that deserve the attention. We'll talk more about some of the new names that have shown up on this list in the coming months.
