Editor's Note: Vamping And RevampingEditor's Note: Vamping And Revamping
Welcome to the new look of Government Enterprise. Here's what's behind the changes.
Welcome to the new and (we hope) improved edition of Government Enterprise.
Since our original launch, we have been committed to bringing you the best information geared to federal and state IT on this site as well as in our companion print publication, which comes out quarterly. (A new print Government Enterprise edition is due in September, and of course you’ll be able to find it here as well.)
Like we’ve always done with this site, we’ll continue to provide top-notch stories about IT matters specific to the government and help you follow important general technology trends and topics that we believe you’ll want to know about. In addition to the original content you’ll find here, we have a broad and deep well of news, features, and reviews to draw on, thanks to a strong partnership with other CMP publications including information, TechWeb, and the Pipeline sites.
So what’s new? A more vibrant and friendly site layout, we’re hoping, and one that’s got more layers, including a government resources section, an opinions section, and a place for stories about best practices in both government and industry. Just like in the real world, we understand that the public and business sectors have much to learn from each other. Best IT practices can (and are) found in many quarters, so we don’t have artificial barriers that limit readers from learning what’s going on elsewhere.
The site is also more interactive. Check out our <<>poll, drop a note to me, read our blogs, and let the authors and other readers know what’s on your mind. We’ve also redesigned our weekly newsletter to include more stories and more sections. (You can sign up for the Government Enterprise newsletter, as well as others produced by other CMP publications, here. We’ll continue to tweak and enhance the newsletter’s design, too.) Our goal, as always, is to help you straddle and be successful in the multiple roles you fill: IT technologist or manager, a partner with your agency’s or state’s business side, and a person who cares about larger issues including privacy and the online safety of children, for instance. You might even like to have a little fun every now and again with an offbeat story or two. We understand your time is limited, so our hope is to be your most relevant source of IT-related information. Please let me know what you think of our changes and if there are things we can approach differently—or new things we can do--to help you do your jobs. Like with most sites, we’ll be tweaking and changing Government Enterprise in stages, over time. Be in touch, Johanna
