Storage vendor EMC has introduced the Clariion AX4, intended to bring "easy-to-use networked storage to small to medium businesses and branch offices at an affordable price." Aimed particulary at businesss that are outgrowing their currrent storage solutions, the AX4 is both flexible and scalable.The AX4 can combine both SAS and SATA drives in the same unit, enabling SMBs to realize both the performance advantages of the former and the capacity advantages of the latter. Starting at $8,600, the AX4 can be equipped with up to 60 terabytes of storage capacity and support up to 64 hosts or servers simultaneously, including Windows, Linux, Unix, NetWare and VMware Infrastructure systems. It includes software for disaster recovery and storage management.
Following yesterday's announcement of low-cost NAS software, it looks like EMC is making a strong move to become small and medium businesses' favorite storage vendor.eChannelLine
