It's unwise to expect much intellectual integrity from the European Union bureaucrats as they put the screws to Oracle, but leader Neelie Kroes has set a new low by dismissing and mocking an official letter of support for Oracle from the U.S. Senate. In a display of close-minded arrogance that stands out even by her own standards and that of the insular EU, here's what Kroes had to say about a letter sent to the EU by 59 members of the United States Senate in support of Oracle's acquisition bid, as reported by the AP:

Well, well -good to know the head of the EU's anti-capitalism commission takes so seriously her responsibilities to review all input impartially and even-handedly. In that context, maybe her next move will be to tell Oracle to shut up and stop bothering her with documents supporting its position.
